Important Dates

Reminder: The children will have a test on chapter 12 in religion on Thursday, April 2nd.
The students have a science test on Thursday, April 2nd about the water cycle. Everyone should have brought home a science book to study tonight and tomorrow. Also, study guides were given out on Monday and are due April 1rst!

Respect religion packets are due April 7th!

Week of March 30th

Spelling-The children will work on Unit 27 this week. Please remind them to complete their homework each night.

Math-We will begin working on a unit in measurement. We will talk about standard measurements, metric units, and volume. After measurements we will learn about geometry.

Science-The children are learning about the water cycle. We will have a small quiz on Thursday, April 2nd. Look for a study guide to come home Monday. We will then move on to a chapter about the different types of rocks.

Social Studies-The children will continue to learn about why people moved west and how the freed slaves created a population boom in the North. We are also practicing our map skills and locating the regions where the most growth took place.

Religion-The children's dioramas turned out beautifully! They all worked very hard on them. We are finishing chapter 12 which talks about vocations. Expect to have a test late this week or early next week.

Please continue to collect money for Chimbote. Remember the boxes are due back on April 7th. Thank you for your support!

The children have been working hard and have created some wonderful projects. Please stop by and check them out.

Reminder that Friday, April 3rd is a half day.

There will be a religion test on chapter 11 on Tuesday, March 17th!

Math-The students will continue to work on division and problem solving with multi-step problems. We will also continue to take timed division tests. Please practice at home.

Science-We will be moving into Unit 2 which involves earth science. We will be learning about rocks, volcanoes, and metals along with some other material.

Social Studies-We are talking about the pioneers and how people moved west. We will also discuss how cities grew in the 1900's.

Spelling-We will start Unit 25 and follow our regular homework schedule now that testing is over.

Religion-We will have a test on chapter 11 and continue to go to stations of the cross on Fridays. We will also start chapter 12 this week.

The students did a great job working on the Terra Novas! Have a great weekend and try to get outdoors. Have you noticed the flowers are coming out? AHHH Spring!!!

Math-We will finish chapter 7 this week and have a test on Friday. The test will be on division and deciding which operation to use to solve word problems.

Science-The students will receive a study guide this week and have a test on producers and consumers next Tuesday. We will then move on to Earth science.

Social Studies-Due to some technical difficulties we will be finishing our president reports this week and start chapter 4 in our books. We will also be learning about great African-Americans. The children will compose a peom about a civic leader after learning about their life.

Spelling-We will work on Unit 23. We also need to take the test for Unit 22 on Monday because of our visit from the JA students on Friday.

Religion-Ms. Mulkerin's class will finish chapter 11 and take a test on Friday. We will continue to work on our dioramas of the Stations of the Cross.

Terra Nova tests will begin March 9th. A note will be sent home this week with specifics about our testing schedule.

Please remind the children to continue reading and to take their AR tests. These tests can be taken during homeroom or during inside recess time.

Week of February 23rd

Reminder: Please send in a shoebox with your child by Thursday, February 26th.

Math- The children will continue with chapter 7, division. Please continue to practice your multiplication facts because they are related to division.

Science- The students will continue to learn about producers and consumers and the idea of competition in the animal world. We will most likely have a test next Thursday. More details will follow.

Social Studies- Everyone has been working very hard on their President reports. We will begin writing our rough drafts this week. Most students only need to find a few more pieces of information to complete the reports.

Spelling- This week we will be working on Unit 22. Please make sure your child studies their words a little each night.

Handwriting- I have seen a big improvement in our handwriting! Please encourage your child to always try their best. Their hard work is really showing!

Religion- We will be starting chapter 11 in religion and begin our Lenten packets. Also stations of the cross will start this Friday afternoon. Great job cantors on your solos! Keep singing!

Third grade is excited to have a smart board available for our use! We will be using it for interactive math, spelling, and science lessons. Ask your child about these exciting activities!
